At a time when the spotlight continues to be firmly on the skills shortage within the construction industry and its supporting trades, New Zealand still faces high demand for knowledgeable and top-quality tradies, with a heightened requirement for compliance.
Conference time is on its way again - 20th / 21st August 2019. Join us for learning, networking and a slice of winter in adventure packed Queenstown.
Another great conference this time in the vibrant Gold Coast. Thanks to everyone who contributed this year and made the commitment to travel over the ditch. Katipolt learning took up a large chunk of the event programme as well as fantastic supplier stands and presentations and the all important networking and socialising.
New Zealand trade professionals network NZ Trade Group (NZTG) has qualified for a landmark R&D Growth Grant from Callaghan Innovation to boost the development of a suite of innovative software that will vastly expand business opportunities for its nationwide membership.
Over the last year there’s been a media storm around the alarming increase in substandard products and shoddy workmanship plaguing the construction industry. Many businesses are said to be taking on too much work, and in the competition to win contracts are operating with low and unsustainable margins, with some opting to use cheap, substandard products and low-cost labour to keep prices down.
Thriving during what's regarded as the longest and strongest growth phase in building activity in New Zealand history is one thing, but building a sustainable business to last beyond the construction boom is another.
A great success and overwhelming team effort. A big thank you to all our members who attended. Much learning, networking and socialising was had by all ! Thanks also to our exhibiting suppliers, your efforts were appreciated and all the stands looked amazing.
Cloud-based software, collective buying power, as well as networking and training services provided by NZ Trade Group are all helping the country's trade businesses thrive in the current construction boom.
There is no scarcity of information showing that the demand for tradies and construction workers is higher than ever before. With the number of jobs in the trade sector increasing rapidly to meet growing housing needs, trade companies are being forced to find efficient ways that result in higher productivity rates.
NZTG is a nationwide membership organisation with over 120 trade businesses on board. They provide their members with cloud-based quote and job management software to optimise their operations, collective buying power through its supplier network and a host of services including business training and education. But it's the power of its collaborative networking that's grabbing the spotlight at the moment.
" The best part of our Trade Group membership is the professionalism we can show our customers. We achieve that through the software and quoting systems and through our supplier contacts and support from the Trade Group Team. "
Thomas Wood, Eco City
" The software has helped me win a new contract with a housing company! It is a no brainer to get involved. It can only help you grow. "
Martin Butterly, Mainstream Electrical
" NZTG are really invested in making our business run as efficiently as possible. The software has been brilliant, giving us a significant edge with other electrical businesses. Our client feedback has indicated that the quotes are transparent and easily understood while looking really professional."
Mike Marfell, Pulse Electrical
" Our new buying power has definitely added some profit and helped us to quote more competitively but I believe the real growth and profit will come as we become better organized and working smarter. NZTG is helping us get there with their experience and advise. "
John Graham, Northern Lights
" Since joining NZTG: Staff 67% increase, Turn over 70% increase, Profit 20% increase. "
Dave Obery, Optimum Environments
" Yes, we've gone from about 4 staff to 10. Turnover has increased approx. 100% each year. "
Jared Cowley, Cowley Electrical
" Would definitely run without the NZTG software but it would be a lot more painful and probably less profitable. "
David Marsden, Oceans Automation
" Originally joined for the group buying and networking benefits. Now I look at NZTG’s main advantage is the software. We are really enjoying using it. "
Paul Casey, PC Electrical
" Trade Group membership means we probably make 20% more profit in 20% less time! "
Thomas Wood Eco City
" We have often said that it has been the best strategic move we made when starting our business. The support has been invaluable and the conferences really feel like you are a part of something with great momentum and a great vision. The team at NZTG are great. "
Mike Marfell, Pulse Electrical
" Yes I can imagine running my business without NZTG as that is what I have been doing for the last 10 years. I wish I had joined NZTG 10 years ago I think I could have avoided a lot of pit falls along the way. I can honestly say I feel much more confident with the direction of my business since joining NZTG. "
John Graham, Northern Lights
" Love the software, it has totally moved our business into a new era!! LOL... we like feeling like part of a bigger team/network, also lots of encouragement to grow our business in many different aspects "
Amanda Minot, ZEAL Electrical
" I have a way to go before I think I can knock off Friday for a day of fishing but I am confident with the help of the great staff at NZTG that day is coming. I struggle with getting quotes out in a timely manner and it has been great to be able to send some of the quoting across to NZTG."
John Graham, Northern Lights
" Our process have improved. Our aim over the last few years has been to be more professional and organised. It is hard to find time in a business to put all processes in place to run a business and even harder to know what you need- NZ Trade Group take care of all of these. "
Paul Casey, PC Electrical
