Our people
Andrewe Brown (Brownie)
With over 20 years of experience in the trade industry, Brownie knew there had to be a better, smarter and easier way to run a successful trade business. That’s why he started NZ Trade Group in 2006.
Brownie’s focus as Managing Director of NZTG is to perfect the System Fox business application that powers growth and success for our members. A master in creating efficiencies through automated systems, Brownie is constantly seeking out ways to improve NZTG’s software and services - and with more than 100 member firms on board, it would seem his approach is paying off.
A qualified, registered electrician, Brownie knows that running a great trade business is quite a different kettle of fish to being a great tradesperson, and with the NZTG team, he’s determined to lift the standard of the trade sector so that every trade business can get ahead, faster.
Andrew Jameson
Business Development Manager Andrew is the first point of call for new NZTG members - and usually the first person to buy our members a pint or a whisky!
Andrew provides continued direct support for existing members, so that you can get the most out of your involvement with NZTG. Andrew also works with our wholesaler and supplier network to further streamline members’ businesses and develop opportunities for further growth.
Austin Rasmussen
With over 40 years of experience in the electrical trade, Austin has been involved in the installation of one power outlet right up to the logistics of installing over 2000 power outlets - he knows his stuff.
As NZTG’s Operations Manager, Austin is a staunch advocate of using systems and processes to run a smoother and more profitable trade business. With a passion for new ideas, including technology, Austin is always on the lookout for smarter ways of doing things - life hacks - which are then passed on to our members. Time is precious, so Austin likes to see business owners with more free time, or using their time productively to further develop their business.
Karen King
Karen drives our marketing strategy, working with key partners like Future-Proof Building to ensure our members get maximum mileage from their NZTG membership. She’s also the tech-whiz who created our new website, including the ever-popular member profile pages and our Find a Tradesperson search tool, which generates valuable business leads for our members.
The NZTG annual conference is a highlight of our members’ calendar - and Karen is the driving force behind the big event.
Doug Bryers
With a knack for helping innovative businesses reach new heights, our CIO Doug works closely with Brownie on delivering the next generation of our purpose-built System Fox software.
Doug has over 20 years of experience in driving commercialisation and growth for smart ventures daring to do things differently - like NZTG. We don’t just preach that our members should focus on growth and then remain static ourselves - we walk the talk! Doug is currently assisting the NZTG team to develop our offering to trade businesses and grow our business, with a focus on scalability and expansion.
Jeremy Thornton
Through NZTG’s targeted services, software and supplier network, our Business Support Manager Jeremy works with members to fast track their business’s acceleration and growth through a mix of individual mentoring and online automated training.
Jeremy is focused on making sure the services we provide to our members work in a practical and functional manner, so you and your business reap all of the tangible benefits of being part of NZTG.
Tonya Morgan
Tonya manages our accounts and looks after member applications and requirements, and is also the smiling face and welcoming voice you’ll chat to over the phone or meet at reception if you pop into our Albany office.
Tonya looks after new member applications, and assists with existing members’ requirements. Tonya also administers the NZTG plan service, liaising with members and giving them outstanding professional plans to accompany their quotes, so they can focus on running their business smoothly. She also helps our Marketing and Events Manager Karen in adding some much-needed womanly influence to a male-dominated business!
